At 2000 hours, Squad 5, Engine 51 & the Fire Chief were alerted for the accident with entrapment in the area of 4961 Sands Road in Lothian (925 Box). The Fire Chief arrived first to find a two vehicle crash with one heavily pinned. One vehicle was on its side and one vehicle was severely mangled after striking a telephone pole.

Squad 5 arrived with Squad 20 (Marlboro) and began extrication efforts. Working together, both Squads used all preconnected hydraulic lines and freed the heavily pinned driver in 14 minutes upon arrival. All doors were removed, the roof was removed, the dash was pushed, and the steering column was displaced. Engine 51 assisted with scene safety and advanced a charged hand line to the extrication scene.
