Today in regular session, the Calvert County Board of County Commissioners issued a proclamation recognizing May 21 to 27 as "Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week."

Annually in May, EMS Week is when County, State, and EMS agencies recognize the people who make up our EMS System: Emergency Medical Responders, Technicians, Paramedics, ER nurses and EMS medical directors. Sponsored by the American College of Emergency Physicians and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, "EMS Strong- Always in Service" honors the training, professionalism, dedication, and passion EMS workers bring to the patients they care for.

Dunkirk EMS Captain Michael Seneco attended the Commissioners meeting, and accepted the proclamation on behalf of Chief William Rector, President Jim Taylor, and the 70 EMT's that volunteer to staff Dunkirk's 2 ambulances 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
