On Wednesday December 23 at 1635 hours, Dunkirk VFD Squad 5, Engine 51, Engine 52, Ambulance 59, Chief 5, Chief 5A, Chief 5B & both Safety Officers were dispatched to Route 260 & Journey Drive (511 box) for the serious motor vehicle accident.

Units from the Dunkirk VFD found a 3 vehicle accident. One vehicle was overturned in the woods with one person trapped and a second vehicle had one person trapped.

The crew from Squad 5 & North Beach VFD Squad 1 worked on the extrication which took approximately 15 minutes. That patient was flown to a nearby trauma center. The driver of the overturned vehicle unfortunately succumbed from their injuries and was extricated hours later. The driver of the 3rd vehicle refused medical treatment and was taken into police custody.
