Fire Throughout Lothian House

On November 7, 2020, at 1916 hours, Dunkirk VFD Squad 5, Tanker 5, Ambulance 59, the Assistant Chief & Deputy Chief responded to 5501 Sands Road in Lothian (9-10 box) for the house fire.

Units from the Dunkirk VFD arrived behind Engine 91 and found a large 3-story house with fire in the basement. The crew from Squad 5 assisted with advancing Engine 91’s 400’ attack line to the rear of the house and extinguishing the fire. Shortly there after, fire was found running the walls and ceilings on the floors above. The crew from Squad 5 redeployed and assisted with extinguishing the fire on the first floor. Tanker 5 supplied the fireground during the duration of the incident. One firefighter from Dunkirk VFD was injured and transported to a local hospital.

The Box Alarm was upgraded to a Tanker Task Force, Working Fire Dispatch and eventually to a 2nd alarm. Units from Anne Arundel County, Calvert County, Prince George’s County and Annapolis operated on the scene. The Dunkirk VFD returned to service 3 hours later.
