This morning at 1150 hours, Ambulance 59 was dispatched for the person that had fallen. They arrived on location and found a motorized wheelchair that had driven off the back porch of a house and overturned resting against the porch and concrete retaining wall leading to the basement steps. The patient was trapped between the wheelchair and retaining wall with severe traumatic injuries to both legs.

Ambulance 59 requested an Engine & Squad company for assistance. Engine 51, Squad 5 and both Deputy Chiefs responded. An elevated platform was created with box cribbing. Air bags were then used to lift the wheelchair off of the patient. Rescue struts stabilized the wheelchair during the extrication. The patient was flown to a local trauma center.

During this incident, one additional crew remained in quarters and responded to a separate medical local.
