This morning at 1035 hours, Special Operations Box Alarm 9-16 was struck for the grain dryer on fire at Purdue Farms, 6272 Southern Maryland Boulevard. Units from Anne Arundel, Calvert, Prince George’s County and Annapolis City were dispatched to the scene.

Dunkirk VFD Engine 52, Tanker 5 and both Deputy Chiefs arrived first on location with smoke showing from a 100’ grain dryer. Upon further investigation, an active fire was found burning approximately 40’ high inside of the grain dryer. After tedious work, the fire was eventually extinguished. The Dunkirk Volunteers operated on the scene until 1330 hours.
