The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department is pleased to announce the addition of Truck Company 5 to the community that we serve.

Truck 5 was purchased by The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department’s Ladies Auxiliary in March, 2018, after the logistical data compiled from numerous studies regarding Truck Companies in Calvert County justified the need for an additional Ladder Truck. Truck 5 was procured in this particular fashion to eliminate any acute financial burden to Calvert County Taxpayers, and The Calvert County Government.

Truck 5 is a single axle 1994 Seagrave, 100’ rear mount ladder truck that measures 34’ from bumper to bumper. In addition to the 100’ stick, Truck 5 also carries 211’ of ground ladders, numerous fans, gas meters, Amkus extrication and stabilization equipment, and has seating for 6 firefighters.

The Dunkirk Volunteers started a rigorous training process in April, 2018 and have since spent hundreds of hours receiving in-house, as well as out of house education, and hands on training to prepare Truck 5 to be officially placed in service on November 1, 2018.

The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department proudly staffs 2 Ambulances, 2 Engines, a Rescue Squad, Tanker, Rescue Boat, Technical Rescue Unit, and a Ladder Truck. The addition of Truck 5 makes The Dunkirk Volunteer Fire Department the third full service department in Calvert County by providing full services for Fire, Rescue, and EMS related emergencies.
