At 2213 hours, the Dunkirk Volunteers were alerted for the serious crash in the area of 2797 West Chesapeake Beach Road (512 Box). Squad 5, Engine 5, Ambulance 58, Safety 5A, and Chief 5 arrived to find a work van overturned with one trapped. Squad 5 went to work stabilizing the vehicle and extricating the patient, while Engine 51 provided protection with a handline. The patient was extricated and turned over to Ambulance 58 for ground transport to a local trauma center. A total of 16 Dunkirk Volunteers operated on this call.
