At 2245 hours, Ambulance 58 & Medic 104 were dispatched for the unresponsive person due to carbon monoxide poisoning on Cornwall Road. Hearing the reported information and notes that read “generator running in garage,” Squad 5, the Fire Chief & Deputy Chief responded also.
Units arrived and found an elderly male unconscious with carbon monoxide levels in excess of 100 ppm. Squad 5 removed the patient down two flights of stairs via the back deck and onto Ambulance 58’s stretcher. Squad 5’s crew also secured the generator that was still running and ventilated the residence.
The patient was flown to Baltimore Shock Trauma priority 1. Engine 51 handled the Landing Zone. Units from the Dunkirk VFD returned to service at 2340 hours.
